A spark plug creates an electric spark that ignites the compressed air-fuel mixture.

A spark plug consists of 3 main parts:

- A metal spark plug sleeve with metric threads which is equipped with one or more ground electrodes.

- A porcelain insulator

- A central electrode with an attachment point at the top for the ignition cable.
